Society for
Assistance to Fisherwomen (SAF)
SAF, an agency under the Department of Fisheries, Government of Kerala, focuses on the holistic development and socio-economic upliftment of fisherwomen. SAF aims to integrate fisherwomen into the mainstream by fostering entrepreneurial skills and establishing microenterprises.
This is achieved by forming small, activity-based groups and providing financial, technological, and managerial support. Since 2010, SAF has implemented the Theeramythri Project to facilitate the creation, growth, and sustainability of these microenterprises.
The Minister of Fisheries chairs SAF's governing body, which manages all functions, while the Executive Director oversees daily operations.
